  2. Aims • Look at the revision techniques promoted in school • Try some activities we do in school • Senior students to share the revision they have completed in preparation for Higher/ National qualifications

Revision Task You have 2 minutes to remember the below stations of the Victoria line… • Kings Cross, St Pancras • Euston • Warren Street • Oxford Circus • Green Park • Victoria • Pimlico • Vauxhall • Stockwell • Brixton Use any of the resources on tables, move around, listen to music- whatever works best for you!

  4. How did you get on? Roughly… (pass marks are decided by SQA each year, for each exam) To get an A you would have needed to get 7 To get a B you would have needed to get 6 To get a C you would have needed to get 5

  5. Option 1- Memory Walk • Assign each station to a place on a walk/ drive you do frequently • When recalling, picture yourself on that walk to help remember station Example- Oxford Circus Warren Street Euston Kings Cross

  6. Option 2- Mind Map • Colour, themes and pictures are vital for a mindmap to be successful • When asked to recall, brain is wired to picture mind map helping you to remember stations.

  7. Option 3- Flashcards • Can be used in a variety of ways; question on one side and answer on the other, events in history (which can be moved into correct sequence), words on one side and definition on the other. Kings Cross Pimlico Vauxhall

  8. Option 4- Using Others to Help • 2 options… • Teach someone who knows nothing about the subject and ask them to explain back to you, question you to ensure they fully understand. • Create Q & A cards and ask someone to check your understanding.

  9. Effective Techniques- Senior Pupils • There are handouts available, please help yourself. • Please take some time looking at the work the seniors have produced in their revision for exams. • Any questions- just ask 
