3. Materials and methods Inocula preparation: the caecal content were collected from slaughtered rabbits with 200g fresh caecum diluted to 1litter medium and filtered through 3 layers of muslin (caecal fluid).
The donor animals for caecal content were adult crossbred rabbit (New Zealand x local) fed Para grass.
4. Materials and methods In vitro digestibility: to do according to Goering and van Soest (1970).
Samples of 0.5g + 50ml caecal fluid put into 175ml test tubes and incubated in water bath at 400C for 0, 24, 48, 72 and 96hs.
The matters in the tubes were deterged with neutral detergent solution at 800C for 12h.
5. Materials and methods In vitro gas production: to follow by the technique described by Menke and Steingass (1988).
Samples of 0.2g + 30ml caecal fluid put into 50ml syringes and incubated in water bath at 400C.
Gas production volumes were read at 3, 6, 9,12, 24, 48, 72 and 96hs of incubation.
6. Sampling and analysis
There were 15 samples of grasses, legume, by-product groups and others.
They were dried at 500C for 24h and ground to pass a 1mm screen.
The chemical compositions: DM, OM, CP, EE, CF and NDF.
The metabolic energy (ME) concentration:
ME (MJ/kgDM) = DE (0.995 0.048DCP/DE)
DE = 12.912 - 0.0236CF + 0.010CP + 0.020EE
DCP= 0.85CP-2.5
