  4. How to Build a House • Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. (Psalms 127:1 NKJV)

  5. Children: A Blessing • Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate. (Psalms 127:3-5 NKJV)

  6. Correction: Children CAN BE a Blessing • Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul. (Proverbs 29:17 NKJV)

  7. Children CAN BE a Source of Grief • The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother. (Proverbs 10:1 NKJV) • A foolish son is a grief to his father, And bitterness to her who bore him. (Proverbs 17:25 NKJV) • Children: Which are you? A blessing or a source of grief?

  8. Parents: Train Your Children • Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NKJV)

  9. God Commanded Children to Obey Their Parents • Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." (Ephesians 6:1-3 NKJV)

  10. God Detests Disobedience! • "If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not heed them, "then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. "And they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.' "Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear. (Deuteronomy 21:18-21 NKJV)

  11. Husbands: Take the Lead! • The “…husband is head of the wife…” (Eph. 5:23) • And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4 NKJV)

  12. To Spank or Not to Spank? • He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly. (Proverbs 13:24 NKJV) • The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. (Proverbs 29:15 NKJV)

  13. Disciplining Children for Their Own Good • Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? (Hebrews 12:9 NKJV)

  14. Responsibilities of a Mother: • Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully. (1 Timothy 5:14 NKJV)

  15. Christian Ladies: Younger Mothers Need your Guidance! • the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things-- that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. (Titus 2:3-5 NKJV)

  16. Grandparents: Your Job is Not Done Yet! • when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. (2 Timothy 1:5 NKJV)

  17. The Best Family Motto • "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15 NKJV)
