  2. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Captain’s Presentation Goal – provide you with framework to ensure your team has the materials & knowledge to compete successfully. We will discuss Responsibilities of Captains, players, spectators; and tournament rules.

  3. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Required at Captains’ meeting: Registration Checklist Entry Fee: $125.00/team Contact cell phone numberand e-mail for Captain duringthe Tournament (this is a must have) Photo Release form

  4. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Captain’s Responsibility: • Knowledgeable for: Tournament Rules of Play • Court Conduct • Rain Plan • Health & Safety Precautions

  6. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship EACH PLAYER is RESPONSIBLE for THEIR OWN HEALTH & SAFETY: • Hydrate prior to the match • Hydrate during the match • Dress appropriately • Eat appropriately

  8. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Matches may be called 1/2 hour prior to scheduled start time if courts are available. All players must be present and ready to play before lineups are turned in. Captain’s Responsibility cont.:

  10. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship When a match is called and a player is missing the player is “on the clock” and assessed a game penalty and loss of toss. After every additional 5 minutes that passes the player or doubles team is assessed an additional game penalty. After 15 minutes the player or doubles team is DEFAULTED. FAC IV.D Table 14

  23. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship The HOME team calls the coin toss (or spin of the racquet if no official is present) before starting the warm-up. The winner may elect ONE of the following: to Serve to Receive Side Defer … have the opponent make the choice.

  24. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship There will be no less than a 5 minute warm up including serves. We will try to give you a 2 minute warning. All ELECTRONIC DEVICES, including CELL PHONES, must be turned OFF while on court.

  26. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship ‘A ringing cell phone during a point will cost that player the point …if the opponent stops play. A cell phone ringing at any other time during the match will cost the owner a Time Violation…’

  27. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship ‘Doubles teams must set their receiving order prior to the first point of a set or Match Tie-Break…’

  28. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Players responsibilities: CALL SCORE BEFORE EACH SERVE Post courtside scoring devices with correct score on each changeover – very important

  29. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Players responsibilities cont.: IT IS THE EXCLUSIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PLAYERS TO MAKE ALL LINE CALLS AND KEEP THE SCORE CURRENT ON COURT SCORE DEVICE.

  30. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship ‘a player changing a call from Out to Good SHALL LOSE THE POINT. It makes no difference whether the player returned the ball in play or not.’

  31. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Only A PLAYER or their CAPTAIN may request an Official to come to their court. A player may leave the court for no more than 5 minutes to locate an Official.

  32. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Bathroom breaks are allowed, preferably between sets or at changeover. Obtain permission from an Official prior to leaving the court.

  33. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship The appropriate action in response to confusion among players or teams is to call an official – to the court - to address the players’ concerns.

  34. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship The role of a Spectator is just that. Spectators are not to interfere with a match or matches in progress. It is the exclusive responsibility of the players to make all line calls and post the score.

  35. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship No Coaching is permitted. Therefore, no conversation should take place between players and spectators!! Coaching violations are subject to action under the Point Penalty System.

  36. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship ‘Text messaging – sending or receiving is prohibited (coaching).’

  37. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship CODE VIOLATIONS will be penalized by the roving Officials. Violations include: visible or audible profanity, racquet or ball abuse, coaching, any un-sportsmanlike conduct. The Point Penalty System applies to violations (point, game, then default)

  38. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship The Coman tiebreak procedure: Change sides after the first serve, and every fourth serve, i.e., change sides after serves 1, 5, 9, 13, etc.

  39. 2013 Adult 40 & Over District Championship Rest Periods • Changeovers – 90 seconds except after 1st game in a set. • Set – 2 minutes, which must be taken immediately upon set completion. • During tie-break – NONE, play is continuous.
