  1. ARE DRAPES REALLY OUTDATED? There has been a tendency toward minimalism, with a rejection of pomposity and elaborate designs, unless the interior style indicates differently. Many people choose curtains with tiny patterns, drapery, and ruffles that are basic and well-seasoned. Drapes are ideal for sophisticated interior decor. Drapes extend your windows while providing depth, dimension, and texture when properly placed. Drapes are typically offered in pairs as lined fabric panels and are constructed of thick fabric that blocks light, making them ideal for usage in bedrooms. USAGE Curtains have specialized roles; appropriately lined, they may prevent all light from entering a room and can limit heat loss and gain in a room twice as well as a blind. Curtain motorization solves the problem of manually moving huge curtains or putting curtains on high or difficult-to- reach windows. Some windows are too large for blinds purchased off the shelf. Some windows, such as enormous sliding glass doors or wall-to- wall, floor-to-ceiling windows, do not lend themselves well to blinds and shades in terms of design or functionality. On some of these very big windows, only custom-made shades may be used, and they could cost considerably more than a cotton curtain. MINIMALISTIC STYLE "Less is more" is the design ethos of this century, and it presents itself in curtain designs that are simpler than in previous years. Swags, ruffles, and numerous layers were popular window coverings as recently as the early 1990s. The new textiles are lightweight, simple to clean, come in a variety of colors, and are typically UV-resistant.
