Exploring Cosmic Rays: Analyzing Auger Observations and Technical Insights

The Auger Northern Observatory, led by James W. Cronin, presented findings at the SOCoL conference in Trondheim on June 16, 2009. With an exposure of approximately 17,000 km²-yr, the observatory noted about 20 events per year for cosmic rays with zenith angles ≤ 60°. Over a decade, Auger North recorded about 1,400 events above 60 EeV. This presentation highlighted several technical issues including single PMT checks, tank insulation, and communication challenges. Monte Carlo simulations were employed to enhance understanding of the array's performance.
