  2. Famous Work Of ArtNicole Raccuia • Chuck Close has created many pieces of art. One of his most famous works or art is a portrait named, “Bill.” Like all of Close’s other work, the method he used was painting on huge, diagonal grid. To the left, is my creation of a turtle using Close’s style of art.

  3. The life of Chuck Close • Chuck Close was born in Washington in 1940. At the age 4, Close knew he was going to become an artist. In his teens, he wasn’t very skilled at any sports and was a slow learner. After graduating out of the University of Washington, he went to the Yale Graduate School and got a grant to study in Europe. In 1967 he moved to New York City and painted from black and white photographs. From 1967-1987 he became world famous for the huge portraits he made. In the end of 1988, because of an incident, he was paralyzed. Even though Chuck has some disabilities, it does not prevent him from being an artist. Chuck Close is still alive today and is still creating many great pieces of art.

  4. Style of Art Chuck Close’s style of art was usually portraits or big pictures of faces. He created mostly works of art of himself and usually the same head-on, pass-port photo view, unsmiling lips and dead pan eyes. Because of his disability, he sits on a forklift type of chair. He moves up and down painting on a huge portrait (grid paper). He uses finger prints, crayon, airbrush, and paint on his creations. As a result, Chuck Close is one fine artist.

  5. My Opinion I think I like Chuck Close’s art work because his creations of art are so unique and different. He used fingerprints and absurd colors to come out with a creation. I would recommend picking Chuck Close to research about because I have never seen such a cool and different style of art.
