Background… ❖2011 American Horror Comedy ❖Directed by Drew Goddard ❖Starring Kristen Connelly and Chris Hemsworth. ❖The plot follows a group of college students who retreat to a remote forest cabin where they fall victim to backwoods zombies while technicians manipulate events from an underground facility.

  3. What can we expect from the rest of the film? ❖We can expect the film to be very gory and quite unrealistic in terms of its type of horror. ❖ We can expect that the film will focus on a lab or a control centre - the lab coats, buggies, clip boards, text ❖ It will have a comedic aspect ❖ We can expect that the film will have a different kind of vibe to the opening sequence - doesn’t link to what we would assume from the title.

  4. Target audience? ❖ Between 16 - 30 ❖ The comedic aspect in the opening scene makes the film seem quite childish but again the film is definitely not suitable for younger audiences as it is gory. ❖ Quite futuristic - usually appeals to a young adult audience.

  5. How is the genre of the film set up? ❖ Blood - gory, shows the film will focus around violence and pain and terror. ❖ Egyptian pictures - ancient aspect, quite eery and creepy, historical. ❖ Mystery - little is revealed in the opening sequence. ❖ Jump scare - the title jumps onto the screen preparing you for the horror and fright aspect of the movie.

Who are the characters that are introduced? 3 characters are introduced with dialogue - while there are background characters 2 men and 1 woman - all dressed in shirts and lab coats We know that they all work for the same company/scheme as they discuss their work together The men are more laid back than the woman and therefore they seem more superior We know that they will have a large involvement with the rest of the film • • • • •
