Pfizer EHS Supplier ProgramTraining and Coaching If you give a man a fish, he will eat for one day; if you teach a man to fish, he will eat for many • Through repeated audits, it was noted that many general program gaps existed on a consistent basis • While deficiencies noted in many environmental and safety program elements, understanding of these was reasonable. • Deficiencies in Process Safety and Occupational Hygiene programs less understood and viewed as more critical • Solution: pursue Training and Coaching in PSM and OH at Key Suppliers

Pfizer EHS Supplier ProgramTraining and Coaching • Training and Coaching initiatives commenced in 2006 • Initial focus in regions with limited local resources and regulations in PSM and OH • China and India predominant focus • Initially, classroom training sessions organized: • 2.5 days for PSM and 2.5 days for OH • Requested attendance by EHS, Production, Engineering responsibles at Key Suppliers • Target 5-7 companies per training session

Pfizer EHS Supplier ProgramTraining and Coaching Occupational Hygiene Program Content: • Hazard Identification: • Hazard information/definitions, Basic Toxicology, MSDS, Labels, Occupational Exposure Values. • Risk Assessment: • Qualitative Risk Assessment programs • Sampling and Analysis: • Sampling Strategies, Overview of sampling equipment, Analytical aspects • Control Strategies: • Hierarchy of Controls, Exposure Control Practice review and utilization, PPE programs, Medical programs • Hazard Communication programs Combination of lecture, problem solving, group discussions

Pfizer EHS Supplier ProgramTraining and Coaching • Individual company coaching pursued as a follow-up to the training • Moved next to individual site coaching instead of organized classroom sessions offered by Pfizer • Allowed for focused learning and solutions • Now supplement with newly offered regional OH training programs

Pfizer EHS Supplier ProgramTraining and Coaching Overall Numbers: • Classroom training (3 years): • 21 total companies attended, 100 Supplier employees trained • Estimated 20 weeks of Pfizer colleague time for program development, planning, training and follow-up (both OH and PSM) • Coaching: • >75 site-based coaching sessions, >500 Supplier participants • Estimated 100 weeks of Pfizer colleague time for on-site coaching planning, site visits, travel, etc (both OH and PSM) • Many product/process specific coaching sessions

Coaching & Footprint Assessments • Focused on Process Safety & Industrial Hygiene • Moving towards environmental performance focus • Focused predominantly on Asia • Varies in depth and content based on supplier/audience • Footprint assessment covering 4 areas; • Environment, Safety and Health, Compliance and Sustainability; • Builds on previous pilot programs (‘08/’09); • Issued to top 100 pharma supply partners globally.

Pfizer EHS Supplier ProgramTraining and Coaching Lessons Learned: • Significant commitment of resources • EHS awareness and improvement is a long term strategy • Continued oversight and follow-up necessary to ensure sustainability • Step by step (identify issue--recommend solution—resolve) approach with strong business support appears to be the best approach • Results are not guaranteed; transition from specific issue resolution to comprehension/transfer of concept taking time • Support very appreciated by Suppliers, leading to better relationships • Progress has been noted in program strength, control strategies, etc. at many Suppliers during follow-up EHS reviews
