Comprehensive Guide to Preparing and Testing GoldenGate for Oracle 11g
This document outlines the step-by-step procedure for setting up Oracle GoldenGate for Oracle version 11.2.0.4, including hardware preparation, software installation, schema creation, and workload testing. It details the planned configuration at tier levels T0 and T1, execution of generic workload tests, and performance measures. Additionally, it highlights tests conducted under production workload scenarios, including remote and local configurations, data replication, and consistency checks using Veridata. The project timeline is structured over several months, focusing on achieving optimal performance metrics.

GG test Zbigniew Baranowski
I. Preparation • Preparation of the hardware at T1s (in progress) • Installation of 11.2.0.4 (RAC or single instance) • Create GGADMIN schema (a script to be executed) • Create GGUSER test schema (with standard application grants + ~100GB tablespace)
II. Generic workload tests (March) • Remote configuration • All config to be done at T0 (SW& HW is ready) • Run worklload and measure throughputs (at T0 and T1s) • Local configuration • Installation of GG binaries on db system • ~100GB is needed for TRAIL FILES • Setting up processes at T0 and T1s • Run worklload and measure throughputs (at T0 and T1s)
III. Tests with production workload (April – May) • Remote all local config (depending which worked better in previous test) • Set up of GG process (start of extract) • Dupliaction of T1s COOL replica to 11.2.0.4 db (expdp/impdp) • Start the rest of the GG processes • Run it for couple of weeks • Measure performance • Check data consistancy (Veridata)
