    3. Introduction Example Should we wear schools uniforms? School uniforms are to show that schools have disciplined and smart kids. It shows its a respected and great school for kids to go. But others argue that there is no real point to uniforms. They are a waste of money; you could be spending it on descent clothes that you would like to wear. Many people have different opinions on both positive and negative sides. The truth can be found peaceably in the middle for most concerned parents, teacher, and students.

    4. STRUCTURE OF A BODY PARAGRAPH

    5. Topic Sentence Start the paragraph with a general statement that clearly indicates the overall focus and idea of the paragraph and tells the reader how to interpret the entire paragraph.

    6. Supporting Details Support: Build points in logical progression (one thing leads to the next, and to the next, etc.). Support each point with proof in the form of details, examples, quotes, facts, anecdotes, etc.

    7. Concluding Sentence: End the paragraph with a statement that sums up the paragraph with the big picture idea. The concluding would answer the question What is the point of this paragraph? The concluding sentence should also offer a transition into the next paragraph by indicating the connection between the idea just presented and the idea to follow.

    8. Elements to consider for the overall paragraph: Unity: clearly connect to the topic sentence. Sentences that stray from the topic confuse the reader and the point is lost. Completeness: clearly put forth ideas supported with specifics & proof. Order: must be logical, both with the order of the sentences in the paragraph. Chronological (first this, then this,then this, etc.) or Emphatic (from least important to most important). Coherence: must be a smooth flow between sentences so that the paragraph makes sense.

    10. Body Paragraph Example The legend of the Old South has a certain timeless beauty and stigma attached to it. On the veranda of stately mansions, courtly gentlemen and charming ladies talked quietly of family, land and cotton. While poor whites were barely visible until the vigilante movement after the Civil War. They formed secret societies such as the Klan to terrorize the black community and to acquire political power. Political power led to economic power, and by the turn of the century the poor whites were no longer poor.

    11. Example #2 One of the most popular reasons is that people think they are a good idea because they dont wear casual clothes. This greatly decreases bullying in the schools. Most kids would be wearing the trendy cloths that are cool but if a kid wears something completely opposite, the cool kids would have to give him a bad time about it. If uniforms are worn, this is completely preventable.

    12. Example #3 It would reduce the cost of buying expensive casual clothes. Uniforms would be much more cheaper than casual clothes. Kids would want to get all the top brands that would cost a fortune for the parent, while uniforms are greatly cheaper and you only need a few shirts and pants for the whole year. Most of the time kids get bored of their clothes and want new ones, or the brand isnt cool anymore. That doesnt matter with school uniforms

    13. Example #4 A survey was conducted showing that 47% of kids at B.H.S say yes to they should wear school uniforms, they dont even really mind school uniforms. But 53% say that they dont like it at all. 70% percent said that they dont like the school uniform we currently have. If they do a few changes to the uniform, the uniform matter could be settled.

    14. Example #5 But uniforms do have their negative sides. Kids dont get to wear what they want. It should be there choice for what they wear, not the teachers or parents. They shouldnt HAVE to wear shirts and ties or summer dresses. It should be what they want. The percentage shows that a greater number of students dont want school uniforms.
