  14. AR Reading • Students have been assigned AR books on their • individual reading level. This level was based on • the results of the STAR Test given at the beginning of the year. • 30 daily minutes required: • 15 minutes at school and 15 minutes at home. • Required to quiz two times a week: Tuesday and Thursday • Read Fiction two times or read Non-fiction three times • Read independently and with someone at home • Send books to school daily

  15. RTI • Reading: • 30 minutes daily instruction for individual needs • During the 2 hour Language Arts block • Math: • 30 minutes daily instruction for individual needs

  16. Graded Work Second Grade Grading Scale A = 90%-100% B = 89%-80% C = 79%-70% D = 69%-65% F = 64% and below Promotion To be promoted to third grade, students must maintain a D or above average in Reading and Math. Honor Roll Students need to have an A or B in all subjects.

  18. Behavior Management Students are required to follow classroom and school rules as outlined in the hand book. Choosing not to follow the rules will have consequences. *First Prompting = verbal warning *Second Prompting = flip “PAW” green card to second green card *Third Prompting = flip second green card to yellow card and complete “Think Sheet” at home with an adult *Fourth Prompting = flip yellow card to red card and complete “Think Sheet” at home with an adult. Parent notification through phone call or note in agenda. For each flip a student receives through inappropriate behavior, he/she must walk to a designated spot on the playground at the beginning of recess.

  19. PAW POWER • School wide positive behavior system • Students are rewarded tickets for practicing • safety, acting responsibly, and welcoming • respect. • Tickets are cashed in to purchase • special activities and prizes. items.

Homework Responsibilities • Bring back homework, AR book, signed agenda, and • Ross folder each day. • Ross Folder: “Leave at Home” and “Bring Back” • Read your AR book for 15 minutes. • Neat, complete, and on-time! • Weekly schedule: • Monday: Spelling Tuesday: Math • Wednesday: Reading Thursday: Math • Friday: Get spelling test signed

  25. Absent and Tardy • Miss instruction time. Considered late at 7:41. • School starts at 7:25. Do not send earlier. • Make-up work must be completed at home. It will be in a folder with a due date. • Send in an excuse on a separate • sheet of paper. (Not written in agenda.) • Please give me at least 24 hours notice if you know your child will be absent for several days.

MSD Dress Code • Please make sure your child is dressed properly for school each day to avoid a dress code violation or write up! • Jumper/Dress colors (solid): Navy blue, black and Khaki • Shirt colors (solid): Maroon, Gold, Yellow, Navy blue, Black • or White • Please remember NO light blue shirts, red shirts, zip-up jackets, or hooded sweatshirts are permitted. • Pant colors: Navy blue, Black or Khaki *Any questions regarding the dress code can be found on the district website.*
