  8. Exodus 7:2-3 “You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land. 3 But I will harden Pharaoh's heart that I may multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.

Exodus 14:21-22 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land, so the waters were divided. 22 The sons of Israel went through the midst of the sea on the dry land, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

Exodus 19:5-6 “Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; 6 and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

  15. The Ten Commandments • They are singular (“thou” instead of “ye”) • They can be divided into two groups • Those directed toward God • Those directed toward men

  16. The last six commandments Deals with Israel’s relationship with the Lord. Deals with men’s relationship with one another. The first four commandments Reasons given for each command. No reasons needed. Completely unique to this constitution. No other society in the ancient world had similar laws. These laws are common to most of the ancient cultures of that day.

  22. If you do not obey Me and carry out all these commandments… (26:14) • I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever • You shall sow your seed uselessly • You shall be struck down before your enemies • Those who hate you shall rule over you • You shall flee when no one is pursuing

  23. If, after these things, you do not obey me… (26:18) • I will punish you seven times more • I will break down your pride of power • Your strength will be spent uselessly • Your land will not produce its produce • The trees of the land will not yield their fruit

  24. If, then you act with hostility toward Me and are not willing… (26:21) • I will increase the plague seven times • I will let loose among you the beast of the field • They shall bereave you of your children and destroy your cattle

  25. If, by these things you are not turned to Me… (26:23) • I will strike you seven times • I will bring upon you a sword • I will strike you with a pestilence • Your bread shall be rationed

  26. If, in spite of this, you do not obey Me… (26:27) • I will punish you seven times more • You shall eat the flesh of your sons and daughters • I will cut down your high places • I will lay waste your cities • I will make the land desolate • I will scatter you among the nations and you will perish among the nations

  27. If they confess their iniquity or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled... (26:40-41) • I will remember My covenant • I will remember the land • I will not reject them to destroy them • I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors

  28. Deuteronomy 18:18-19 I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. 19 It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.

  32. Deuteronomy 34:10-12 Since that time no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, 11 for all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to perform in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh, all his servants, and all his land, 12 and for all the mighty power and for all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
