  1. nQPS layout for bus-bar protection Basic nQPS layout for a LHC half-cell.

  2. nQPS layout for bus-bars • nQPS layout covers all bus-bar segments in circuits RB, RQD and RQF • Layout follows the description in the circuits database • Signal names according to naming conventions and electrical circuit database • Beware: nQPS names are not trivial, documentation is in preparation • Bus-bar protection system requires reference magnet for compensation of the bus-bar inductance during ramping • Reference magnets upstream of protected bus-bar segments (exceptions for the end of the arc) • Various patches necessary • DFB level (already in place) • Exceptions i.e. end of the arcs, return of RQ bus-bars, mid arc • Reference magnets for old bus-bar protection • Existing bus-bar protection is compatible with nQPS • Includes protection of HTS leads

  3. nQPS layout for bus-bar protection - example • _SPLICE signals are sent directly to analysis tools via special subscription to QPS supervision signals • Standard signals are transferred to QPS supervision and TIMBER certain status flags as well to LASER • All signals are recorded on change; dead-bands apply only to LSB • LSB U_RES = 1.5 nV • LSB U_MAG = 305 nV
