ACCESSING INFORMATION • We provided a variety of information on the topics of mental health and emotional wellbeing. • This was done through using multi media software such as powerpoint, ytube videos and presentations from Services. • Physical workshops that required participants to be active such as in the 123Start workshop and through using talks of personal journeys by FYM members and having trained professionals attend the event. • There was lots of different information sources such as the FYM how to help a friend workshop and the market place where young people can access a range of services that can help on a wide range of such as LGBTU, eating disorders, counseling, self harm, anxiety and stress busting so everybody had something they got out of the day. • Young people felt motivated and learnt something new from attending the convention.
SUPPORT • We have supported young people with mental health and emotional wellbeing issues by providing them with: • A safe space to talk about the issues that affect them. • By having trained professionals at the convention and having FYM members who are genuinely passionate and positive, young people felt better talking about their issues as they could speak to someone that could help. • Young people said that they felt the day was a good opportunity to gain confidence in reaching out for support. • “Knowing that I’m not alone and that people will listen to me! I do matter and my conditions are real”
STIGMA • Stigma- We have addressed and reduced the stigma around mental health and emotional wellbeing issues surround young people, this was achieved through • Sessions such as the counseling taster ran by Downslink and the bEat eating disorder myth busting workshops. • The idea of reducing stigma was addressed as young people came away knowing the signs and stigmas around the issues of mental health and emotional wellbeing. • “Knowing I’m not alone and that people are going through the same thing as me”
