  1. DEFENSE Wins CHAMPIONSHIPS 3-3 Stack Defense “ T - N - T” Coach Winters

  2. DEFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY Dancing is a contact sport, Football is a hitting sport.! Defense is about discipline, reaction, intensity, and aggressiveness pressure, pressure pressure. Defense must have the ability to force the offense into something they do not want to do. Balance Within a defensive scheme balance is extremely important. We will employ a system that incorporates the best from the 5-2, 4-3, and 3-4 defenses --- THE 3-3 STACK. We will have the ability to quickly employ up to nine run defenders while at the same time defend the pass with no less than five. Quickness Reaction to the ball, instinct, and playing within the system, are ingredients necessary to control the offensive attack. Well-disciplined defenses will react during a play rather than think. Thinking takes time. Playing by instinct signifies preparedness. Well-prepared teams can dictate tempo and dictating tempo is crucial to success on the field. Finally, knowing the system enforces the fact that players are well prepared. Offensive teams become discouraged when the defense is beating them to the point of attack. Are you a hammer or a nail?

  3. DEFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY cont. Intensity Concentration passion emotion enthusiasm - excitement. Words that are used to describe a person just from observing behaviors. When offenses describe their opponents with these, half the game has already been won by the defense. Our defense will be intense when we break the huddle. Our defense will be intense when we make a tackle. Our defense will be intense when we intercept the ball. Our defense will be intense when we come on and off the field. Our defense will be INTENSE. Aggressiveness Defense must force the offense to make plays. We will take away the run and the ball will be ours when in the air. Nine run defenders and no less than five pass defenders is aggressive. With a disciplined aggressiveness we will control what the offense can and can not do. We will dictate where the offense will try to run the ball. If they elect to pass it, it will be ours. Are you a hammer or a nail?

  4. HIT or be HIT - Aggressive, in your face movements - Defense will dictate what the offense does - Speed-Speed-Speed - Take away A & B gaps with line - D-line forces play outside - Press with corners and press often - LB's and DB's force play inside D-Philosophy KEY Points - Press coverage - LB calls against formation - Front 4 movement - Front seven work as a team, understand responsibilities of line - Back seven work as a team, understand responsibilities of each other
