  2. A process essay has the same essential elements as any other • essay: • A strong, emphatic, and focused thesis sentence • A compelling introduction • Convincing and thorough support in 3 body paragraphs • A satisfying conclusion.

An Process essay is by nature expository: that is, it conveys information: To draw the reader into the process, the writer must attract attention by an introduction that is provoking or surprising. You could use description or narration to paint a picture in words, or it could simply be the shocking nature of the facts or statistics you present.

  4. You can also lure your reader by showing the importance of the process or procedure, give a historical perspective, or compare it with other similar processes.

  5. What is special about a process essay is that it describes a process or a procedure, which could be either natural, such as the functioning of an organ, …

  6. ...or artificial, such as a process by which something is manufactured or produced.

  7. EXAMPLES OF A NATURAL PROCESS • the water cycle • an ecosystem • the development process of weather phenomena • the progress of a disease
