  6. Background of NAMEPA • Descendant of HELMEPA founded 26 years ago by George P. Livanos • Part of INTERMEPA (Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Australia, Uruguay, Ukraine) • Mission is to educate seafarers, port communities and children on the necessity and strategies for protecting the marine environment • Message delivered by port chaplains and strategic alliances with Sea Research Foundation and churches
