Globalisational process Changes for Vietnam’s HE: (a) from providing the human resources for administrative system to meeting the requirements of socialism oriented-economic market; (b) from mostly based on governmental budget on training to motivated the various resources; (c) from scholarship distribution to all students into student’s fee contribution; (d) from single disciplinary training into the multi-disciplinary. (e) from strict selective process, then to have enough human resources, to satisfy the standards (quality approach)

VNU-USSH, Hanoi, CHALLENGES • Low quality level of the input; • Limited facilities and human resources for training at international quality level; • English usage ability, both academic staff and students; • Lower income for staff in social sciences contributes to lower motivation for both academic staff and students in the area;

VNU-USSH, ACTION PLANS • VNU-USSH’s research and academic strategy to 2020, with particular plans on: • Advanced university administration; • Supporing academic and research staff at higher level • International cooperation with various institutions • Reforming the curriculums at international levels based on CDIO initiatives • Quality assurance program at regional and international level

CONCLUSION • Significant impacted by GP to Vietnam Higher Education and VNU-USSH; • Vietnam HE is a complex demanding and competitive reality, requiring the university transformation: • Role of the leaders; • Enhancing the autonomy, accountability and utilisation of technology; • To improve the quality and effectiveness to meet the global demand for human resources
