  9. About Vector Graphics • Lines and curves defined by mathematical operations – vectors • Move, resize or transform without losing the quality of the graphic • Also resolution independent – can be printed or viewed at any scale

About Vector Graphics • As you draw – resulting line is called a path • Path made up of one or more straight or curved segments • Beginning and end of each segment marked by anchor points • Can change shape of paths by editing the anchor points • Control curves by dragging the direction points at the end of direction lines that appear at anchor points

On an end note… • Rush through the following in the “Help menu” of Adobe Illustrator • Drawing, Color, Painting, Arranging Objects, Reshaping Objects and Type • Tons of information – sift through what you think will be needed immediately • Suggestion – get comfortable with the basic tools and how to use them • Do not go into details yet • For later in semester • ‘Copying appearance attributes between objects’ under the ‘Creating Special Effects’ menu might help
