  2. Early Settlers Archaic and Anasazi Indians Southern Paiutes In the 1850s the land was settled by the Mormon Pioneers Jacob Hamblin was sent by Brigham Young to help establish a peaceful relationship with the Native Americans

  3. “Utah’s Dixie” It received its name “Utah’s Dixie” when Brigham Young asked 300 families to grow cotton, silk, and pecans in the warm climate.
