Early Settlers Archaic and Anasazi Indians Southern Paiutes In the 1850s the land was settled by the Mormon Pioneers Jacob Hamblin was sent by Brigham Young to help establish a peaceful relationship with the Native Americans
“Utah’s Dixie” It received its name “Utah’s Dixie” when Brigham Young asked 300 families to grow cotton, silk, and pecans in the warm climate.
