This project aims to address conflicts in seaside activities by improving spatial coordination of offshore uses. The main objectives include strengthening Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM), integrating land and sea-side planning, and supporting the EU maritime strategy. The PlanCoast project covers areas in the Adriatic, Baltic, and Black Sea regions and focuses on strengthening spatial planning in ICZM, implementing geographical information systems, developing sea-use plans, and promoting ICZM best practices through transnational dissemination. The total financing for the project is 1,979,020 EUR, with contributions from various funding sources such as EFRE, CARDS, PHARE, TACIS, and EU co-financing. The importance of incorporating spatial planning into the ICZM process is highlighted, emphasizing the need for spatial planning of the sea as an integral component of ICZM.
