  2. What is Bullying? • Bullying is when one person, or a group of people, make another person feel uncomfortable, upset or hurt. • Bullying is intentional – a person who bullies hurts someone else on purpose. • Bullying is persistent – it happens more than once.

  3. Bullying can be: • Physical – being violent towards someone, stealing from them or damaging their belongings. • Verbal – name calling, saying nasty things about family and friends, making unkind jokes, threatening someone, saying nasty things behind someone’s back. • Technological – sending nasty text messages, silent or abusive phone calls, sending nasty emails. • Indirect – spreading horrible stories about someone, ignoring them, excluding them from a game or group.

  4. What can we do if we see someone being bullied? Bullying Scenario Worksheet • Look at the bullying scenario and the list of possible things you could do. • Put them in order with the thing you would be most likely to do at the top and least likely to do at the bottom. • Which of the things do you think would be most likely to help stop the bullying? Why?

  5. What can I do if someone says something nasty to me? Use Humour - say something funny back. No, I haven’t always looked this stupid… it’s a new look I’m trying out for the maths test today! That makes two of us. Is that the best you can come up with? Talking to yourself again? Are you trying to be mean, or does it just come naturally? So, we have something in common then.

  6. Write down five comments people have made about you which you didn’t like. • Think of a funny reply or comment you could have said in return. • Practise saying these out loud – remember to use a strong and confident voice!

  7. What else can I do if I’m being bullied? • Use your body language – people “say things” even when they don’t actually talk. Appear confident by smiling, keeping your head up and looking people in the eye. • Keep your voice strong – try to speak in a loud clear voice. • Take reinforcements – if you need to go somewhere new or difficult, take a friend, someone from your family or a mascot with you.
