  1. The Wooden People The Quiche Maya Story of Creation

  2. Explanations of creation vary from culture to culture, but there are remarkable elements of similarity. The Judeo-Christianity tradition finds its explanations of creation in the account of the Hebrew Bible On the other side of the world, in Central America, the Quiche Maya people call their God the Maker, the Modeler, and their account of creation also includes a destruction by a flood. Historical Background

  3. “The Wooden People” describes a sort of rough draft of human beings- creatures made of wood who are not competent and do not speak. Overthrown and destroyed they are left as a sign in a form that may surprise you. The Maker, Modeler

  4. The Wooden People are created by the Heart of the Sky. Because the people are made of wood they were not complete, they had no blood, no lymph, no Heart! This led the people to not care at all so the Heart of the Sky decides to destroy the people by a flood. Today the monkey is the sign that has been left to remind us of the wooden people. from popolVuhThe Wooden People
