John T. Romeo has made significant contributions in the fields of phytochemical characterization, non-protein amino acids, and carbon metabolism. His research interests include insecticidal and fungitoxic properties of non-protein amino acids and allelopathy. Romeo earned his Ph.D. with a thesis on the genus Erythrina at the University of Texas, Austin. He served as PSNA Treasurer from 1978-1982 and as President in 1987. Notably, he was Editor-in-Chief for "Recent Advances in Phytochemistry" and the "Journal of Chemical Ecology."
