District Policy on Hazing and The Risks of Opioid Use • As a family, please review the Kyrene School District Governing Board Policy on Hazing • “All violations of this policy shall be treated in accord with the appropriate procedures and penalties provided for in District policies related to the conduct and discipline of students, staff, and others.” • As a family, please review Athletes and the Risks Associated with Opioid Use • If prescribed by a doctor, “ask if it is necessary, ask for treatment plan, ask about all the risks, and ask about alternative medications.”

  4. Students First, Athletes Second Academics & Behavior • As a member of our Rattlers athletic program, students are held to higher standards. Student-athletes will: • Avoid referrals or behavioral issues on campus • Pass ALL classes(D/F grades result in ineligible to participate) • Be prepared (clothing, water, food)

  5. Sportsmanship and Attitude • Treat your teammates/coaches they way you would like to be treated. • Our team comes before the individuals on our team. • Show good sportsmanship at all times(win or lose). • Bring a positive attitude to every practice/meet. • Thank parents, coaches and volunteers for helping us reach our goals!

  6. Dress & Shoes • Shorts & t-shirts • Dress warm/layers – it’s cold right now in AM • Sweat pants- to warm-up legs! • Running shoes (Sole Sports- Warner/Rural Rd) • Spikes are not required (1/8” is longest) • Meets – PLAIN black shorts & AMS tank • Track and Field Team T-shirt (see next slide)

Tardies/Absences • We want to assure athletes are warmed up and stretched in order to prevent injuries, please be on time! • Absence/Tardy Policy: -On the 2nd unexcused absence and/or the 3rd tardy- the athlete may NOT compete in the first meet. -Once meets begin, this moves to 1 unexcused absence and/or 2 unexcused tardies.

  9. Excused Absences • Please email your coach before practice if you need to miss.   10. Practice Times • Throwers: M,W,F 6:00-7:45 AM and T&TH 3:45-5:30 PM • Sprinters: M,W,F 6:00-7:45AM and T&TH 3:45-5:30 PM • Distance: W,F 6:15-7:45 AM andM***,T&TH 3:45-5:30 PM (*** after the second week) Once meets begin, Friday AM practices will be determined.

  11. Events Completed in this order during meet • 75 M Hurdles • 100 M • 1600 M (4 laps) • 4x100 Relay • 400 M (1 lap) • 800 M (2 laps) • 200 M • 4x400 Relay Completed throughout the meet • High Jump • Long Jump • Discus • Shot put

  12. JV/Varsity • JV: Blend of 6th and 7th graders • VARSITY: Blend of 7th & 8th • Some 6th graders may make Varsity based on athletic ability • Groups may change due to meet results • District Conference Meet on April 17th DVHS • Top 4 athletes in each event

  13. Transportation • Students will take the bus to away meets. • There will NO RETURN BUS back to school. ALL athletes need to be signed-out at AWAY meets if going home with parents (Coach Kennedy). • Look for the Rattler Flag 
