Laboratory Information System

This document outlines the necessary changes to the Siemens Laboratory Information System as part of the transition to SCC SoftLab. Key changes include updates to the Microbiology order entry screen in Net Access, introducing two new fields: Source and Body Site, each with accessible help features. Additionally, there's a new Micro Summary Result View and a capability to display arterial blood gas results as discrete entries. A detailed PowerPoint with directions will be available in January to assist users with these updates.

  1. Laboratory Information System Changes related to Order and Results

  2. Changes to SMS (Siemens) • As part of the conversion to SCC SoftLab, changes must be made to the Siemens Orders and Results in Net Access. • The following slides will provide an introduction to these changes. An additional PowerPoint with specific directions on how to use will be available in January.

  3. Microbiology Order Screens… There are two new fields on the Microbiology order entry screen SMS: Source and Body Site

  4. Source Codes • The Source may default in like this example or you may need to choose from a list.  Use the Right-click & Help or Help function (Shift key + F12) to view the possible choices. 

  5. Body Site Field The Body Site field also has a Help screen.

  8. New ABG Result Though not usually thought of a lab result, the change to Soft will allow arterial blood gasses to be displayed as discrete results. Here is an example of results display in Net Access.
