  3. Synopsis Shivani Wazir Pasrich Productions was established to address the joint objectives of providing a solid platform to the arts and to utilize the immense potential of this medium to bring social issues to the fore front. The production house began its journey with the play “Draupadi- We are so different now” which explores the current social relevance of the mythical character of Draupadi. The play was premiered in New Delhi and later in its new avatar “ Draupadi- Will my spirit live on ?” was performed in Mumbai & Bangalore. The play was able to bring together some world renowned luminaries in the in arts including painter Anjolie Ela Menon, fashion designer Ritu Kumar, singer Shubha Mugdal. American director Tina Johnson & historian Aman Nath. Later with the New York performance in March 2011, Shivani Wazir Pasrich Productions took its first step towards addressing issues of relevance on a global platform. The funds raised from the first eight performances of the play were donated to the Breast Cancer Patients Benefit Foundation. Later we championed the cause of Safe Motherhood through the White Ribbon Alliance. We also made a documentary on the girl child entitled “ Girls are Gold”. Our latest production is a one woman show entitled “ I am the Tiger” which was premiered in January 2011 at the Singinawa Jungle Lodge in Kanha National Park for the “ Artists for Tigers” project. This piece tells the story of Taqdeer, a tiger, and through that sensitizes us to the plight of animals on the brink of extinction. A versatile Actress, Odissi dancer and TV Presenter/Emceee, Shivani Wazir Pasrich has conceptualized and starred in the well received touring production “ Draupadi-Will my spirit live on“. Having acted in national award winning plays and films, this former Miss India World Wide was consultant for the launch of the Indian Parliament’s TV channel. Shivani has also made documentaries on socially relevant issues such as the “Girl Child”. Her concern for animals and interest in dance, theater and choreography has led to her strong connection with “I am the Tiger”.

  4. Once venerated and associated with divinity, the tiger is now steadily hunted for its skin, bones and teeth. This magnificent creature is disappearing and with it our grasp of natures force and our sense of humanity and humility.“I am the Tiger” is an evocative one woman tour de force. A performance, easy to stage and suitable for the whole family and one which explores the role of the Tiger in our lives and the need to preserve this proud species. Performed by acclaimed Indian actress Shivani Wazir Pasrich, this portable performance incorporates elements of story-telling, traditional dance, song,, poetry, live percussion and dynamic physicality to create a passionate and vibrant theatrical performance. SYNOPSIS I AM THE TIGER is the story of Taqdeer (DESTINY), raised in the forest of Sarhi. His sister, Bachi is forced to fight for food to feed her cubs and is branded a “man- eater”. Though the good times are short lived and Taqdeer ends up in a Zoo in Delhi. Here a life of barren captivity, inhumane conditions and loneliness force him to the very brink of existence and madness I AM THE TIGER is the story of Taqdeer (DESTINY), raised in the forest of Sarhi. 5. Purpose To make conservation a daily thought in peoples lives. To raise awareness and create national and international pressure groups which in turn will work to increase forest cover through strongly implemented constructive policies. To act as a medium to bring together renowned conservationists and environmentalists on a common platform. To help local people to create their own vernacular versions of “I am the Tiger” and bring awareness in their own regions making them guardians of the forest once again. To engage children and communities at large through the Art Initiative as stakeholders in the larger issue of environmental conservation. ShivaniWazirPasrichProductions www.iamthetiger.in

  6. Initiatives I AM THE TIGER Performance Initiative Is a one woman preview performance currently touring nationally and internationally. In time this will develop into a mega production, the musical “Taqdeer the Tiger”. I AM THE TIGER Conservation Initiative Through which we aim to bring together tiger conservationists on a common platform so that we can work on selecting and facilitating ground level projects which have far reaching consequences. We also plan to invite local people from the tiger reserves to participate in workshops where they will experiment with creating their own versions of the “I am the Tiger” preview performance for them to perform locally. Some of these people will eventually become a part of the cast for the mega production, the musical ‘Taqdeer the Tiger’. I AM THE TIGER Art Initiative Encourage school children to feel for conservation by getting them to draw their own signature design for “ I am the Tiger”. The collection of students works from around the globe will be displayed at an exhibition from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhawan ( President’s Residence ) in New Delhi . I AM THE TIGER Other Initiatives Through this we encourage individuals to covert their interests into a project for saving this endangered species. Hence, carving out a unique and individually applicable path to raise awareness and facilitate survival for the Tiger. ShivaniWazirPasrichProductions www.iamthetiger.in
