Curriculum and Instruction • We teach the state adopted TEKS in 3rd grade • We use the curriculum that has been created and approved by Northwest ISD. • We use rubrics as a way to assess student growth throughout the school year.
Math Expectations • STAAR Grade 3 Mathematics • Reporting Category 1: Numbers, Operations, and Quantitative Reasoning • Reporting Category 2: Patterns, Relationships, and Algebraic • Reporting Category 3: Geometry and Spatial Reasoning • Reporting Category 4: Measurement
How Can I Help at Home This Summer? • Count money • How much money do I have? • How much more money do I have than you? • Read a clock • Look for patterns in everyday life • Skip count by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 • Play online Stride Academy • Read- set a summer reading goal and work towards this. • Talk to your students about their reading. Ask them about the characters. How did they change? How were they feeling? Ask them about the setting. Why was it chosen?
Behavior Expectations • Check Behavior Log in binder daily. (front and back) • The Behavior Log correlates with the personal behavior and work ethic section on the report card. • More than three signs on any category changes behavior from E to S • More than seven signs on any category changes behavior from S to N • More than eleven signs on any category changes behavior from N to U • Students earn PAT time
