DESCRIPTION
The Columbia Cascade Pump Screen Mitigation Program aims to enhance fish protection in water intakes. This program adheres to the WDFW (Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife) and NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) select fish screening criteria. Key requirements include maintaining active screens for flows greater than 1 cubic foot per second (cfs) or 450 gallons per minute (gpm), enforcing approach velocities of less than or equal to 0.4 feet per second, and ensuring sweeping velocities greater than 0.4 feet per second. Additionally, acceptable screen materials include woven wire, perforated plates, and profile bars with openings no larger than 3/32 inches.
