  4. History of Textiles in MP Madhya Pradesh a leading textile hub. Modern textiles history dates back to 19th century. First cotton textile mill established in 1866 by Maharaja Holkar. Malwa region had the pride to own some of the largest textiles mills. Textiles has a rich heritage in MP. Weaving, printing & dyeing of fabrics have age-old tradition.

  5. History of Textiles in MP Hand block printing is one of the important crafts. Malwa & Nimar renowned for hand block-printed cotton textiles. Art of tying & dyeing fabrics known as Bandhni. Craftsmen of Ujjain and Indore produce exquisite tie & dye fabrics. State is famous for delicate Chanderi & Maheshwari sarees. Maheshwari introduced by Ahilyabai Holkar.

Textiles Infrastructure in MP • MP is 4th largest cotton producer in India. • Produces 6% of country’s cotton yarn with > 20 lakh cotton bales produced every year. • Number of textiles mills increased to 60. • 20 mills are composite, 6 are weaving & 12 are export oriented. • Total installed capacity of spindles is 15.11 lakh. • Textiles export is approx. Rs.1800 crore per annum. • Pratibha Syntex, STI Phoenix & Maral Overseas are major players in apparel manufacturing. • 43,290 power looms & 47,000 handlooms in Burhanpur & Ujjain.

Textile Infrastructure in MP • Chanderi, Maheshwar, Burhanpur renowned textile clusters - best known for quality fabrics. • Textiles mills produce world class Denim & export quality apparels. • Largest producer of staple fiber yarn in the country at Nagda. • Indore & Jabalpur- renowned readymade garment & apparel clusters. • Textiles park is coming up in Chhindwara under SITP. • Apparel parks are proposed at Indore & Jabalpur.

General Incentives to Large Textile Units • Concession @ 75 % on land premium to large textile units. • Investment above Rs. 500 cr - area of concessional land to be decided by Apex. • IPA - VAT refund @ 75 % for 10 yrs limited to fixed investment. • Entry tax exemption for 5 yrs. In certain cases extra 2 yrs. • 50 % of input tax retained given as assistance.

Special Package for Textile Industry • Investment subsidy @10 % limited to Rs. 1 cr. • For new units with investment over Rs.100 cr - Entry tax exemption for 7 yrs. • Interest subsidy @ 2% for 5 yrs on TUFS linked long term loan limited to Rs. 5 cr. • 25% subsidy for Apparel Training Institute limited to Rs. 25 lakh.

Incentive to Small and Medium Textile Units • Small scale textile units with investment over Rs. 50 lakh- Special subsidy @ 25% limited to Rs. 30 lakh. • Medium scale textile units – Special subsidy @ 25 % limited to Rs. 12 , Rs. 18 & Rs. 30 lakh in A, B & C category distts respectively. • Interest subsidy @ 3 - 5% limited to Rs. 10 - 20 lakh for a period of 5 - 7 yrs. • IPA -VAT refund @ 50 % or 75 % for a period of 3 -10 yrs limited to investment. • Entry tax exemption for a period of 5 yrs. • 50 % of input tax retained will be given as assistance in case of stock transfer. • Project report cost expenditure reimbursement- 1% limited to Rs. 3 lakh. • Patent cost reimbursement- 100% limited to Rs 2 lakh • Technology purchase- 100% limited to Rs. 2 lakh. • Quality certification reimbursement – 50% limited to Rs. 1 lakh.
