    1. Welcome to Wales Croeso i Gymru A Quiz by Mr D Walton and Mr S Willis

    2. Images of Wales Here are two images of Wales. Can you draw and label three more images of Wales on your worksheet?

    3. Wales in the UK Use this map of the United Kingdom to answer question 2.

    4. The Population of Wales The total population of Wales is 3,500,000. The graph on the right shows the distribution of these people. The capital city of Wales is Cardiff.

    5. Physical features of Wales Here is a map showing the physical features of the Welsh landscape. Name two mountains, one in the North and one in the South on your worksheet.

    6. Settlement After looking at the physical landscape of Wales we now look at the Human Geography of the country. This map illustrates the major towns and cities of Wales. Note the major towns and cities on your worksheet.

    7. Communication This shows the major forms of transport and communication between Wales and other countries. Note on your worksheet the roads that link North Wales with South Wales and South Wales with London.

    8. Economic Wales The job type of people in Wales has changed over the years. 50 Years ago the economy was dominated by the coal industry. There is only one working mine left in Wales.

    9. Employment in Wales There are high levels of unemployment in Wales. To bring more employment to Wales the Welsh Development Agency attracts Overseas Industry to the country to replace the old coal industry

    10. Old Industrial Wales This is the type of job people would have done in Wales 50 to 100 years ago. There has been a decline in this type of job with many mines closing.

    11. New Industrial Wales In Wales there has been a change in industry to help the economy. New industry from other countries such as USA and Japan have brought hi-tech jobs to the country.

    12. Tourism in Wales Wales is a very picturesque country with Mountains and National Parks. Name two National Parks in Wales on your worksheet.

    13. Famous Welsh People Here is a map showing just some of the world famous people who were born in Wales. Can you name three more famous Welsh people not on the map.

    14. Activity Imagine you work for the Welsh Tourist Board, prepare a poster to attract people to Wales.
