Update on Pb-Pb Spectra Analysis: Tracking and PID Efficiencies from CERN Meeting

This document summarizes findings from the CERN weekly meeting held on April 9, 2013, focusing on the analysis of Pb-Pb collision spectra. It includes detailed fit examples and raw yield data for pions, kaons, and protons across various centrality bins (0-5%, 5-10%, etc.). Key topics addressed include tracking efficiency, PID efficiency, and necessary corrections. Preliminary results for corrected spectra of pions, kaons, and protons in the most central bins (0-10%) are presented, highlighting the importance of both Monte Carlo and real data for accurate PID efficiency estimation.

  14. Conclusions • Pb-Pb corrected spectra have beeb evaluated in two most central centrality bins (0-5%, 5-10%). The same procedure will be applied for the semi central collisions asap. • Main corrections have been applied (tracking eff., PID eff., distance cut), feed down still missing. • PID efficiency has been extracted fromMonte Carlo. It is a very critical parameter, real data have to be also used (V0’s decays).
