  3. “Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the slave born in your household, and the alien as well, may be refreshed”. Exodus 23:12

  4. What is the Sabbath for? • Rest - Ex 23:12 • You are not to work. - Stop working • Your donkey should rest – lit ‘be quiet’, ‘settle down’, ‘lay down’. • Your employees are to be refreshed – ‘take a breather’ • Remembering • Creation - Exodus 20:11

  5. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Exodus 20:11

Why Sunday not Saturday? • The seventh day marked the victory of the first creation. • The first day marked the victory of the new creation • How should we use the Sabbath? • Use it for Rest • Use it for Worship • A wonderful ideal – But how can we do it? • By managing expectation • By good preparation
