  2. What Is the Waste to Energy Project? • Design of a method of treating waste. • Accepts all urban waste. • All waste diverted for recycling. • Converted to energy or by-products. • Little or no emissions to the atmosphere. • Very environmentally friendly.

  3. Present Methods of Waste Treatment • Incineration • Recycling • Landfill

Objectives • To build renewable energy plant that can be feasible and viable • To improve the Maputo environment by reducing the harmful emissions to the atmosphere • To help improve the general welfare of the population • To improve the facilities available to the general public • To contribute to further development of the theory of pyrolysis

  5. The Project • The plant size will be about 400,000 tons per annum of received waste • Will be located in an area of some twenty hectares • The industrial building will be about 7m high and the chimney 10m high • The plant output will be: 1.2 GWh and 40 thousands cum per day
