  2. History of Paris • The earliest archaeological signs of permanent settlements in the Paris area date from around 4200 BC. • when the Black plague arrived in 1348, killing as many as 800 people a day, and 40,000 died from the plague in 1466.

  3. Climate • Over the years Paris climate can be described as mild and moderately wet. • But each year there are a few days where the temperature rises above 32 °C (90 °F).

  4. Population • City :10,354,675 • Metro area: 17,175 km2

  5. France today • Paris is on of the best tourist attractions in the world. • Thousands of people visit Paris every year.

  6. Eiffel tower • Built in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 world’s fair. • It has become a symbol of France in the world.
