  2. 2009-2010 Library Goals Continue to increase funding for purchase of library materials and equipment Last year, we Received $4,344.48 from HCBOE and Added 523 books & 29 AV materials = $10,515.83 value This year, we received $4,707.15 from HCBOE and Added 510 books and 80 AV materials = $11,886.70 value!

  3. Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant October 09 - $3,000 65 audiobooks on Playaway and CD 10 companion print books Chose audio versions of titles taught in English Classes & a few high-interest fiction & nonfiction Search “Playaway” on InfoCentre for complete holdings

  4. Henry Lee Carter Memorial $700 donated by G. L. Carter, Jr. and $275 by various individuals for the purchase of 43 books on American History and Political Science

  5. Donations by Students and Faculty 2009-2010 163 Items = $2,668.43 Thank You!

  6. Signed up in November 2008 2008-2009 School Year = $44.40 2009-2010 School Year = $86.53 (through April) Greatest earnings through GoodShop since we get % of purchase. Earned $12.95 through GoodShop in January & $18.27 in April 2010 Thanks to those who downloaded toolbars & continue to search & shop for us! Spread the word!

  9. 2009-2010Library Goals Continue to evaluate print collection and target areas for weeding and development Performed Collection Analysis through Follett Library Resources in August, November, and April Also examined Shelf List for Target Sections and weeded damaged and out of date titles Added new materials based on reviews, recommendations, and requests

  10. Recommendations for a minimum collection of 10 usable volumes per student balanced across all subjects, based on collection analysis by Follett Library Resources 11/09, based on enrollment of 1435 students

  11. 2009-2010 Target Sections 200s (Religion) added 46 titles discarded 14 titles current total of 262 titles increased average age of section from 1973 to 1978 800s (Literature and Rhetoric) added 39 titles discarded 326 titles current total of 1,419 titles increased average age of section from 1965 to 1971

  12. Also Developed 2009-2010 Fictionadded 177 titlesdiscarded 1,896 titlescurrent total of 2,989 titlesincreased average age of section from 1978 to 1985 Career added 13 titles discarded 146 titles current total of 64 titles increased average age of section from 1994 to 1999

  13. 2009-2010Library Goals Improve service to special education students and students with disabilities Reorganized Fiction by genre & improved visibility of signage in Fiction section Added Playaway audiobooks with Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant funds Writing another DGYL Grant for Graphic / Low-Level Nonfiction and Fiction for Reluctant Readers

  14. Reorganization of Fiction section provided space for student seating area, which you can see they use!

  15. 2010-2011 Goals Continue to weed and develop target areas in print collection Collaborate with teachers to increase focus on reading & research across the curriculum Encourage critical thinking and analysis of information as essential to the research process

  16. Target Sections for 2010-2011 600s– Applied Sci & Tech – need 948 books = $18,960 Materials relevant to ALL vocational courses – Please make suggestions! What do your students need most? 300s– Social Sciences– need 1,393 books = $27,860 (over next 5 yrs) Sociology, current social issues, law, political science, economics, commerce, transportation, education, military science, customs, etiquette, folklore – Again, please suggest what you need most!

  17. If we get ILTSL Federal Grant… 500s- Science & Math need 1,007 books = $20,140 We will also purchase an iPod lab you can check out to use with your class!

  18. Class Visits 428 Total Class Visits this year

  19. Independent Student Visits 8,893 Students signed in this year! 4,140 more than last year!

  20. Student Checkouts Students checked out 4,164 books this year! 1,377 more than last year!
