Bayside Operations • A safe place for wounded warriors from the military, other federal agencies and first responders to come, away from the chaos of everyday life • There is a gap in treatment and therapy. • “Nothing good happens in hospitals from noon on Friday to noon on Monday…get them out and about” ~Neal Z • Created in 2012 • A 501C Organization
The Vision • Fishing, crabbing, hunting, watersports • Reading, studying or just taking in the sun in the summer or the fireplace in the winter • Beach bon fires and huge cookouts • Relax A sanctuary close to Washington, DC, yet far enough away to break from the stress and confines of the business A palatial respite with the calm of a waterfront A safe environment for enjoying special times with family and friends.
The Beginnings • Making the commitment… A Hefty Loan! • A circa 1970 home on the Bay waterfront • Rules, regulations and entitlements… • “Critical Zone,” “Buffer Zone,” and County requirements • A commitment to those this vision serves • Able to look from the front door to the water and know that the waterfront is the front door! • A sound structure with lots of possibilities • A lot and a half – plenty of room for expansion and growth!
Accomplishments • Incorporated and seeking 501C status • Home Renovations • Living Room • Kitchen • Deck • Waterfront access • Bedrooms • Added kayaks, fishing and crabbing gear. • Volunteer Medical Staff, Indoor Range Available, Fishing and Hunting trips

Goals yet to be met • Build a 60’ x 8’ boardwalk along the bulkhead to allow protected access for waterfront activities • Approved by Calvert County Court of Appeals • Garner funding/material donations • Recruit volunteers to build it • Renovate basement to allow more access for the disabled • Bathroom renovation • Bedroom renovation
