  1. The Oregon Trail WebQuest created by Alicia Nicholl

  2. You are going to take a WebQuest, which is a computer exploration, of The Oregon Trail. You and your partner will visit the websites on the following pages to learn about this part of American history. After the WebQuest, you will share three facts with the class.

  3. One of you will be the navigator and one will be the recorder: The navigator will use the mouse to follow the instructions. The recorder will write down or draw anything interesting you see.

  4. Please read the instructions for each page before you click on the link. After you are finished with a link, click on the in the dock to return to the WebQuest. If you get stuck, raise your hand and I will come to you. Have Fun!! Let’s Get Started!!

  5. Let’s start with an introduction of The Oregon Trail. After you have read the article, click on the pictures of William Hill and Merrill Mattes to hear them speak. Don’t forget to record any interesting findings or questions. Click HERE to begin. Actual wagon wheel ruts from the Oregon Trail.

  6. Packing Up! If the prices seem low, remember that to estimate today’s price, you should multiply the dollar amount by 20! Click HERE to see what the pioneers needed.

  7. This link will lead you to a map of Oregon. Once there, click on the white-lettered locations to learn more. Click HERE. (Note: You will use the internet buttons to move back-and-forth within the site!)

  9. This is the end of your WebQuest! If you have time, you may go back and re-visit a site. Make sure your notes are complete for our discussion. Hope you enjoyed this!
