  9. UNM Valencia Students • 56% self identify as Hispanic • 58% are first generation college students • 75% receive need-based grants and loans • Many of our students lack access to high speed internet and depend on such campus resources

Title V STEM Graduation and Transfer Project • Awarded October 1, 2008 • Goal: To increase the number of Hispanic and other low income students attaining degrees in fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Objective 1: Increase the number of STEM Associate Degree recipients. Objective 2: Improve success rate in gateway courses. Objective 3: Implement a model transfer program.

Transfer Assistance • Transfer Advisor • Mentor and assist transitioning students • Maintain an office at UNM Valencia and UNM Main • Individualized appointments at Main campus • Bridge between campuses • Appointments • Individual or small group • Specifically tailored to each student • Provides exposure to Main Campus as the transition occurs (many students have never even visited Main!)
