  3. You will use these because they can help organize information that can help you understand what you are looking at, reading, seeing, etc. You simply apply them to information you are given. Why and How do I use these?

  4. Spatial Terms (Location) Absolute or Relative?

  5. Place What is its meaning? Region Formal, Functional, or Perceptual? Place and Region

  6. Human System Movement of Goods, People, Ideas

  7. Physical System Anything from nature

  8. Environment and Society Humans’ interaction with their environment (surroundings)

  9. Let’s Practice! • Look at what you are given, it will be only ¼ of the photo. Use the 5 themes to help you determine what you are looking at, where it is, is it natural?, man-made?, what action or effects are taking place, etc…
