HHHS ARRIVAL • 3:40 p.m. - pick up exchange partner from Mrs. Young’s classroom in the HHHS Library • French students will choose their option classes • Parents must pick up students from school (luggage). • Family Day Weekend (stay with host families) • Family is in charge of organizing events during the long weekend.
Tuesday, Feb. 22– Collicutt Centre/Edmonton Students need to bring: 8:30 a.m. Arrive at school and take luggage to Mrs. Young’s room 8:45-11:45 a.m. Collicutt Centre 12:00 Noon Students eat bag lunch at HHHS. 12:45 p.m. Bus leaves for Edmonton 3:00-5:00 p.m. Space Science Center 5:00 p.m. Depart for Fort Edmonton 6:30 p.m. Meat and Vegetarian pizza supper 7:30 p.m. Night Snowshoe & Pioneer Activities 10:00 p.m. Arrive at Hostel • Towel, shower shoes, skates if desired, swim suit in a plastic bag, warm clothes, toiletries, boots, mittens, toque, spending money for shopping, and a bag lunch for the day. • Students can leave luggage in Mrs. Young’s room.
Wednesday, February 23– Edmonton Day • Breakfast Provided • 9:30 a.m. Leave Hostel • 10:00 a.m. Arrive at West Edmonton Mall • Students will each receive MacDonald’s certificate for their lunch. • Each student and chaperone will receive a West Edmonton Park Day Pass. • 3:00 p.m. Bus departs West Ed at Water park Entrance #50 • 5:00 p.m. Bus arrives back at HHHS • Host families must pick up the kids due to their luggage
Thursday, February 24 Red Deer Day France Students need to bring: 8:30 a.m. Arrive at school. 8:40 a.m. Depart for the Red Deer Arena 9:00-11:00 a.m. Curling 11:00 a.m. Leave Arena and go to Heritage Ranch 11:30 a.m. Hay Ride, hot dog & hot chocolate lunch 1:00 p.m. Leave Heritage Ranch for school 1:30-3:30 p.m. Country Dancing workshop in Drama Room • Boots for hayride, mittens, hat, warm clothing, and indoor shoes for curling. Need to dress warmly as they are outside all morning. Bring additional healthy snacks for lunch.
Friday, February 25 – Drumheller Day Students need to bring: Bag lunch from home, spending money for gift shop 9:00 a.m. Depart for Drumheller 11:45 a.m. fossil casting and exhibit tours. 2:30 p.m. Depart from Drumheller 4:00-4:30 p.m. Pick up at school. 6:00-10:00 p.m. Swing dance at Festival Hall. Dress is semi-formal. Parents arrange student pick up and drop off. Tickets are provided for French and host students. All students are expected to attend both dinner and dance.
Saturday, Feb 26 and Sunday, Feb 27Host family plans activities • Possible suggestions for local activities: • Tobogganing / Skating / Sliding • Kerrywood Nature Centre • Laser Tag / Bowling • Movie Theatre or RDC Live Theatre • Red Deer Rebels Hockey Game • Visit a Local Farm / Sunnybrook Farm / Bison Ranch • Stay up and watch the Northern Lights • Livestock Auction at Burnt Lake • Paintball / Airsoft activities • Indoor Golf (Paradise Golf & Recreation) • Hot Pot Studio • Visit the Red Deer Museum or Sports Hall of Fame • Skating on Sylvan Lake
Monday, Feb 28Fond Farewells Students need to bring: 8:30 a.m. Arrive at school. Leave luggage in Mrs. Young’s Room. Pick up option sheet. English students show French students to their options classes. 12:00 noon Eat bag lunch with partner 12:45 p.m. Take luggage to bus 1:00 p.m. Depart for shopping at Cross Iron Mills Mall in Airdrie 4:00 p.m. Return to bus 4:15 p.m. Depart for airport • Bag lunch, luggage for return trip
