PlaceLab is a unique live-in laboratory designed for data collection and analysis of energy usage patterns in residential spaces. Over a period of 10 weeks, a couple resided in this facility, which was equipped with 37 electrical circuits monitored by current sensors. The study utilized video analysis for capturing the couple's behavior, movement, and appliance usage. Additionally, data collection included energy consumption analysis of individual devices. The innovative Handlense sensor visualization tool allowed for in-depth evaluation of activity recognition in a realistic living environment.
