  5. Generation Flux Managers should: • Be open-minded • Be future-focused • Be clear about your business mission • Approach change head-on

EXERCISE ONE – Design a Formal Compact Answer the following questions in a document with one employee in mind: • Formal dimension • What are employees supposed to do for the organization? • What help will they get to do their job? • How and when will performance be evaluated? • What will I be paid, and how will pay relate to performance evaluation? • Psychological dimension • How hard will they have to work? • What recognition, financial reward, or other will they get for their efforts? • Are the rewards worth it? • Social Dimension • Do my values as a manager match this employee’s values? How can we meet in the middle, if necessary? • What are the real rules that determine who gets what in this company?

  7. EXERCISE TWO – Document Change • Create a new policy or procedure for your company. For example, pretend you are going to change the reimbursement policy for company travel. • Write a blog or wiki article about the positive impact of this new policy • Choose 1 or 2 employees to create their own documents, such as job aids or a blog post to endorse this change
