ANGER, WITHOUT A CAUSE • Matt 5:21-22 You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of thejudgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!' shall be in danger of thecouncil. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hellfire.

  3. ANGER, WITHOUT A CAUSE • Continuous Anger • “Thumos”: Blazes up quickly & soon dies out. • “Orge”: Hatred that refuses to be pacified (Jas 1:20; 1 John 3:15; John 15:25).

  4. ANGER, WITHOUT A CAUSE • Contempt • “Raca”: a worthless person. • “I have no use for…”

  5. ANGER, WITHOUT A CAUSE • Insult • “You fool” (moros): dull or stupid, empty-headed, rebel, child of the Devil. • Slander(Jas 3:6; Prov 10:18; cf. Pr 3:7; Rom 12:16)

  6. ANGER IS AHINDRANCE • To Worship (Matt 5:23-24) • To Influence (Matt 5:25-26; 1 Cor 6:7) • Our Example (1 Peter 2:21-23) • Our Families (1 Peter 3:7)

  7. Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, & the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, & my redeemer.”
