It is 2,000 kms long. http://www.bmgnet.net/salt/coral/where.htm http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fd/Upwelling_image1.jpg/300px-Upwelling_image1.jpg http://tenthmil.com/images/uploads/oceans/oceans_coral_reef_diver.gif

  3. Animals and plants • The animals and plants that live in the coral reef are really colorful and they are also beautiful. There are hundreds of thousands of creatures that need the coral reefs to survive. They include lobsters, seahorses, sharks, sea turtles and sponges. • http://celebrating200years.noaa.gov/foundations/coral/side.html • http://www.cosmosmagazine.com/files/imagecache/news/files/news/20080709_reef_fish.jpg

  4. Environment • Coral reefs are found in shallow, warm water usually close to the land. They need the sea to be between 21°C - 30°C. a coral reef is made from coral polyps, which are tiny animals that live in colonies. When the polyps die they leave behind a hard structure made of limestone • http://www.enchantedlearning.com

  5. Why coral reef are dying ? • Coral reefs are among the most endangered ecosystems. One reason is pollution from oil, gas and waste. Another reason is global warming. The earth is getting warmer and so the sea. When it gets above 30°C the corals die and the animals that live there also die. Pesticides from farms run into the see and kill the corals and people poach fish for aquariums http://www.sheppardssoftwar.com • http://favim.com/image/224340/

  6. Clown fish • Clown fish are sometimes called Nemo. It is small fish which lives in anemones. They are symbiotic because the clown fish cleans the anemones of any rubbish and the anemones protect the clown fish from things that want to eat it. The anemone is poisonous and most fish that touch the anemones tentacles die but the clown fish is immune and doesn’t get stung . the anemone eat fish it catches and the clown fish eats the fish left over. • http://www.enchantedlearning.comhttp://images.sciencedaily.com/2007/05/070503145443-large.jpghttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g4ugsoYijrQ/TV9-0033J4I/AAAAAAAAAz0/cZM7aV19xwM/s1600/Clown_Fish.jpg

  7. Does it Matter If Coral Reefs Die? • Coral reefs are sometimes called the medicine cupboards of the world. This is because many medicines for things like cancer have been found from things living in the coral reefs. Scientists think we will find many more medicines there so we need to make sure they are not destroyed. • http://www.celebrating200years.noaa.gov/foundation/coral • http://weheartit.com/entry/20823343

  8. Human activities • Human activities in the coral reefs are endangering the animals and ruining the environment. Over fishing, pollution and global warming are the main reasons why its going to be destroyed . So far one of the reefs have been destroyed and is not recovering http://sitemaker.umich.edu/gc2sec7labgroup3/introduction

  9. Coral reefs help people. • Millions of people around the world rely on coral reefs for food protection and jobs. Many tourists travel around the world to visit the coral reefs and they bring lots of money to the country. They also create jobs because divers, ship workers and people working in hotels have their jobs because people want to see the reefs and the animals that live there. They also create jobs in fishing and stop the sea from destroying towns and villages on the coast. • http://celebrating200years.noaa.gov/foundation/coral • http://media.treehugger.com/assets/images/2011/10/dying-coral-frozen.jpg

  10. national resources affecting on coral reefs • Harvesting plants tropical storms, outbreaks of a coral predators, disease, low water temperatures, and extremely low tides affect on coral reefs and the plants and animals die there. We really need coral reefs because we need its medicine. • http://www.australianclimatemadness.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/coral_reef.jpg • http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/pd/corals/welcome.html
