  4. NA PTAC Needs Assessment • Three questions: • Knowledge • Center’s resources • Comments • Although R4 does not differ significantly from parent centers as a whole, R4 has critical needs for TA to serve Native American families!!

  8. Universal Technical Assistance Website where information will be posted www.naptac.org Webinars on Information and resources pertaining to cultural awareness for Parent Centers Provide state profiles (5 states per year) Printed information on topics for outreach efforts

  9. Targeted Technical Assistance Training on cultural responsive practices for serving Native American families. Set up a focus group to identifying, and addressing needs of the Native American communities in your state. Provide information and resources on topics pertaining to emerging educational and policy initiatives that effect Native American families.

  10. Intensive Technical Assistance provide “cultural broker” services between parent centers and tribal communities. provide In-person, on-site visits with parent centers. provide follow up services for on-going support as needed.

  12. Parent Centers & RDA An opportunity to discuss the roll out of RDA among the states in Region 4.

RDA Overview: Question #1 • Rates of compliance have steadily increased due to the focus on compliance indicators but results of infants, children, and youth with disabilities have not improved in a commensurate rate. • Question: How has the introduction of RDA changed the discussion among your SEAs? LAs? LEAs?

  14. RDA Overview Question #2 • State determinations will be using infant, child, and student outcome data. The new way OSEP will be making State determinations has changed how OSEP works with states. • Question: In what ways have you seen changes in the ways States are working with districts and service providers to focus on results?

  15. RDA Overview: Question #3 • Family engagement is a component of implementation of activities under IDEA. • Question: How have you been involved in planning and implementing RDA by your States? By the districts?
