  4. Software • Set of instructions to perform some specific task.

  5. Types of Software • There are two types • System Software • Application Software

  6. System Software • S/W which are used to run the system. It controls all the resources of the computer. Operating systems are the examples of system software.

  7. Examples of OS • Windows • Dos • Linux • Unix • Macintosh

  8. Application Software • These are designed to perform some specific task. There are two types of application software. • Customized Software • Package Software

  9. Customized Software • These are developed according to requirement of the customer.

  10. Examples of Customized Software • Inventory System • Pay Roll System

  11. Package Software • These are general purpose , integrated software. e.g. Ms Office

  12. Other Tasks Perpormed • Ms word • Newsletter • Lesson Planner • Quiz • Ms Excel • Ms Access • Ms PowerPoint
