  2. Colours used… • Glamour magazines always have bright, eye catching front covers to catch the publics attention to buy the mag. This is a simple and easy way to sell the product. In this case a neon orange is used for the mag’s name and the main headlines. This caught my eye in the shop as it was probably one of the brightest covers. Using a plain black font and a pale background colour makes the neon headlines stand out more. The page isn’t very busy which makes it easier to see what is in the magazine instead of spilling the beans on every story youv’e got in the magazine itself, on just the the cover like other competing magazines. Such as ‘reveal’, ‘heat’ and ‘take a break’. The first headliner that caught my eye was ‘New looks that work’ and obviously the mag’s name ‘GLAMOUR’. • In conclusion I think the magazine use colour very effectively and it must work as its ‘Britain’s No1 women’s magazine’. I don’t think they could change much to make it better, its already great.

  3. People and Brands featured… • It’s common sense to know that a magazine isn’t going to sell unless you have famous people featured. In this case ‘Mila Kunis’ is used on the front cover, she is from the film ‘friends with benefits’, she worked alongside Justin Timberlake. This was then used as a story in the magazine, and her photos were used throughout the magazine. This mag is big on fashion and make-up and makes sure it advertises the higher end of those industries. In this issue they have a thicker page advertising Marc Jacobs new perfume for women ‘oh, Lola’ and they have a strip that is scented with the perfume so you get a taster of what it smells like. This persuades people to buy the product. They also added a voucher for a free ‘Clarins’ mascara, which you pulled out of the mag and took it to your nearest store. Simple. Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis, J-Lo, Alexandra Burke, Keira Knightley and Dakota Fanning are just a few people that were used in the magazine.

  4. Layout… • I have already talked about the layout of the front cover, so I shall move onto the layout of the inside of the magazine. Page one consists of a ‘Lancôme Paris’ advertisement. This is followed by a Chanel advert then a D&G one. You can tell the audience they are going for, young, interested in the latest looks and products, middle to upper class, female. Its not until about 6 pages in you find the contents of the mag. This follows the structure of a pale background colour with bright letters and a photo of a model. Most of the articles are to do with fashion, and how to get the latest look ‘without spending ridiculous amounts’ which never works. The stories your told about on the front of the mag include ‘Mila Kunis gives up the dirt on Justin Timberlake’, ‘10 years on, what happened to the sep 11 survivors’, ‘WIN be a glamour fashion editors in Milan for a day’, ‘what sex feels like, with a movie star etc.’, ‘Win 15,000’and ‘Have a great hair month!’. Theses all included the neon orange font on selected words to grab attention. Such as ‘Mila Kunis’, ‘Win’, ‘Month’, ‘Sex’ and ‘£15,000’. I personally think the layout was well thought over and works really well for the people interested in what the mag has to offer. Its busy inside and well spaced out on the cover and back.

  5. Conclusion.. • In conclusion I would say this magazine ticks all the boxes, and they know that as it sells very well and keeps the title for Britain’s No1 women's magazine. This magazine is slightly more expensive than others, as this one sells for £2, others like ‘reveal’ sell for just 99p. But people will and do pay the price for the magazine because you pay for the quality and the detail, in most of the glamour magazines you get given free samples of brands new products, this all goes to the overall price. So you are paying for what you get. People can subscribe to this magazine and receive free gifts for a very little price as well. This is all good in boosting the mags popularity up a notch. I often buy this magazine and I have never been disappointed with paying that bit extra than I would do with other magazines. I really like this magazine and i know other people will and do too. I would give this mag a 9/10.
