  2. Innovative Teachers VIRTUALCLASSROOMTOUR About Learning Together in Dundee Background/ The background for this ICT Project was to find innovative ways in which to integrate ICT into the classroom. The BeeBot is an exciting new programmable floor robot, it’s simple and child friendly layout is a perfect starting point for teaching control, directional language and programming to young children but I also wanted to support learning across the curriculum. Using BeeBots are a fun way to support learning as I had already worked with these within the Primary 1 classroom. I decided to create a box which would incorporate many aspects of the curriculum but the context would be the story “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt” and using the BeeBot as the tool for delivering the intended learning. It is also hoped to use this to promote transition from nursery then into school through all stages, children bringing their learning with them through school. 4. Innovative Teachers VIRTUALCLASSROOMTOUR Project Learning Together in Dundee Project The Project involved creating a box that’s main context was a story. It was decided to begin with “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt”. I began by collecting as many resources as possible. I did this by sourcing the internet and found many resources for use across the curriculum. Within the box there is a pen drive with many resources to be used within the classroom. These include activities to promote reading, writing, literacy, maths, ICT, PE, PSED. These also included interactive white board activities. These are a list of resources that were created for the Box. Documents BeeBot Activity Sheet Learning Intentions Useful Downloads Other Suggested Activities Sparklebox website Web Links

  5. Innovative Teachers VIRTUALCLASSROOMTOUR Impact Learning Together in Dundee Impact *Feedback from Staff has found that using the BeeBot has proved extremely beneficial when working with control and modelling. *Using the Story Box has given a context and they have seen how they can use the BeeBot and take it in other directions e.g. using it with different stories, developing different characters for the BeeBot. *The different activities in the box e.g. number line and sequence cards have supported learning across the curriculum. *Children will now have opportunities to explore learned skills throughout each stage of school.
